Food and drinks:

The food:

Cheese is very popular in Holland. It is the most popular item to put on the bread in Holland. Many people love Dutch cheese.
There are several types of cheese: old cheese, young cheese, cheese with litlle seeds, middle old cheese.

And farmer cabbage is a mixed food dish.
They are very popular in Holland. We eat here a lot of mixed food dishes, with potatoes, cabbage, and meat, all mixed together

That flesh is called a meatball, made of mixed meat of a cow or a pork. Dutch people eat a lot of potatoes, together with vegetables, here it is little peas. We call those green peas: doperwtjes. We eat different vegetables with it, like red cabbage, colly flower, salade etc.

This we call: oil balls.(in dutch: oliebollen)
We eat it at the end of the year when we celebrate old and new.
That white stuff that is on the oil balls, is powder sugar.
It tastes simply as sugar.

Now the drinks:

Our adults drink a lot of coffee or tea.
And we eat applepie with it, or a biscuit. Many people drink milk and sugar in their coffee because coffee black is too strong for them.. If you do, coffee becomes brown, instead of black.

Our country has been very popular for our beer, called Heineken beer. We also produce it in other countries.
We are very proud of our beer!

This is lemonade. It is it same as limonade but only we call it differently. There its many several tastes. And children drink it much. It's sirop with water.

In Holland there are a lot of different drinks that you can buy in the supermarket. Every year new drinks are invented and sold!

Now: candy!

Drop in one of our most popular candy's, especially muntjesdrop and kittens. In Holland we have a lot of different kinds of drop!

These are Haagse Hopjes, a famous dutch candy. It tastes a bit like coffee!

Hagelslag and Pindakaas
In Holland a lot of people eat a sandwich in the morning for breakfast. On the bread they put butter and then hagelslag or pindakaas. Hagelslag is chocolate and pindakaas is made of peanuts.
